Dutch language certificates
If you apply for a Dutch nationality, you want to start at a
school or university with Dutch as the education language, in
the Netherlands or Flanders, or if you want to apply for a job
where Dutch is important, it can be necessary to proof you
language skills with one of the exams / certificates below. You
can prepare yourselve by joining one of our Dutch courses.
Certificate of Dutch as a Foreign Language (CNaVT)
Valid by naturalization and application to university education in Dutch
What and for whom?
The CNaVT exam is the official, international exam of Dutch as a
Foreign Language for all who learn Dutch all over the world.
The Catholic University of Leuven organizes the exam in name of the
Dutch Language Union.

Why and which exam to take?
By passing an exam a language learner proves that he or she has mastered enough Dutch to be able to speak it,
listen, read and write in certain contexts. People learn Dutch for a variety of reasons: to go on holiday in
the Netherlands or Belgium for example. Or to study, live or work in a Dutch-speaking environment.
For this reason the CNaVT has developed different profile exams. The language learner can choose which profile
(exam) suits his or her needs best. One can make a choice out of the following:
A candidate can take a CNaVT exam in May of every year.
To be agreed upon.
The candidate must register with the examiner (Cornelis Wildenberg) who sends the registration forms to CNaVT before the 20th of March.

Exams in the Netherlands: "Staatsexamen NT2"
NT2" is meant for everyone in the Netherlands for whom Dutch is not
the mother tongue. A person that want to work, study or live in the
Netherlands, can show with this exam that his/her Dutch language
knowledge is on the level B1 or B2.
Regarding the level of education that the candidate will join or the
language needs at work, one selects for Program I or Program II:
Program I: Equivalent to the Common European Framework (GER / CEF)
criteria of B1.
Students that will start Dutch professional education on "MBO"
level, or people that will work on MBO level (nurses, technicians,
secretaries, etc.) should join this exam to proof adequate Dutch.
Program II: Equivalent to the Common European Framework (GER / CEF)
criteria of B2.
One needs to pass this program if one will start at a university,
with education in the Dutch language, or one will work at a such a

Exams in Belgium: "ITNA"
ITNA (Interuniversitaire Taaltest Nederlands voor Anderstaligen) is
a Dutch language exam for non-native speakers that is organized by
the 4 Flemish universities: HUBrussel, KU Leuven, Universiteit
Antwerpen en Universiteit Gent.
By participating the
ITNA exam, one can get a B2 certificate. With a high score one may
get a C1 certificate (ITNA+). An ITNA certificate gives proof of
adequate language skills to join one of the four Flemish
The content of the exam exist of newspapers (De Morgen, De Standaard, ...)
and general scientific and popular subjects from magazines
(Knack, Eos, ...). The exam is given at various centers at various
moments. It's also possible to do an exam on appointment.

If you want to do the exam in Turkey:
ITNA (B2) is equivalent to the profile STRT of
ITNA+ (C1) is equivalent to the profile EDUP of CNaVT.
Civic Integration Test for the Dutch Nationality
The Dutch Civic Integration Test for the Dutch nationality is
equivalent to the A2 level of the Common European Fraimwork of
(GER / CEF). Besides the A2 languages level, in this exam there are
also questions about the Dutch society. The exam can be done in the
Ntherlands or at the embassy of Ankara.

In stead of this integration test these certificates are also valid:
Civic Integration Test for a Dutch Residence Visum
Since September 2011 Turks are, just like EU citizens, exempted
from this exam. People from other countries like Iraq, Syria and
Azerbaijan still need to pas this exam. At Wildenberg Turkey
students can prepare for this exam with a
Dutch language course.
This exam is equivalent with the A1 level of the Common European
Framework of References
(GER / CEF). Besides language skills it also contains knowledge of
the Dutch society. This exam can be done at the Dutch embassy of
Exams in Turkey for Turkish officials: "KPDS"
De language tests for Turkish officials KPDS is organized by the state
institute ÖSYM. The exam takes place twice a year in the months May
and November in the cities Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Bursa, Diyarbakır, Erzurum, Eskişehir, İstanbul, İzmir, Konya, Malatya, Samsun,
Sivas, Trabzon, Van and on Cyprus (Lefkoşa - Nicosia). Applications
Part of the exam is the translation Turkish-Dutch and Dutch-Turkish,
so the knowledge of both languages should be excellent. The language
level of KPDS is at least B2.
